ORIEMT EXPRESS
to the
NOSTALGIE ISTANBUL ORIENT EXPRESS
On October4th,1883 the ORIEPIT EXPRESS started its first journey from the Parisian railway station "Gare del'Est",heading for Constantinopel(lstanbul). Already around the turn of the Century countless legends surrounded this"Palace on Wheels".
Nearly one hundred years after its maiden voyage,the king of trains, the star of film and literature,left Paris for its orginal destination,Istanbul,for the last time.
Since 1976 the Swiss NOSTALGIE ISTANBUL ORIENT EXPRESS,Short"NIOE",is again reliving the culture of luxurious travel on Europe's railway tracks.

1985

0n the occasion of German Railways’150 year jubilee the "NIOE"was chosen as the offcial train. |
1987

First offer of nostalgic trips combined with DC−3 nights by Classic Air. |
1988
|
NBC−TV broadcasts its"Today−Show" live out of the NIOE from Paris, Zurich, Munich, Vienna and Venice. September 7th, departure for the longest train ride ever from Paris to Hongkong. Entry in the Guinnes Book of Records. This is followed by a stay in Japan for several months. Daily reports by Fuji-TV. |
1992

Start of the star route Moscow-Peking, daily reports by Swiss-TV. |

The group acquires a luxury train in the United States, Called the "AmericanOrient Express", a car of which was already starred in one of David Copperfield's shows. |
